For some people, February is when the post-holiday winter blues really start to kick in. Christmas parties have come and gone, some are lamenting that NYE kiss that never panned out, and summer is a way out of sight.

But for the 20s and 30s crowd in Virginia Beach, it’s about to be the most exciting night of the year. Because in a few short weeks, riseVB is hosting the annual Beach Ball, a celebratory occasion where young professionals trade in their flip-flops for shined shoes, pressed suits and evening gowns to support a local charity. The event is put on by riseVB, a local nonprofit aimed at uniting young professionals with ties to the Tidewater region to give back to the community that has given them so much. This year’s Beach Ball will be supporting Virginia Beach-based Equi-kids Therapeutic Riding Program.

Since its inception in 2016, the Beach Ball has grown to be the “can’t miss” event for young people in our area. In turn, support for the ball and its affiliated nonprofits has grown year over year. In its first three years, Beach Ball benefitted CHKD, Samaritan House, and WeAreVB, raising nearly $70,000 and selling out tickets within a few hours in its most recent year.

With secured sponsorships for the 2019 Beach Ball already surpassing last year’s sponsorship count, the 2019 Beach Ball is set to be another record year. Many thanks are due to the lengthy list of sponsors, including Franklin Johnston Group, Capital Concrete, Ruffin Family Foundation, South-ern Trust Mortgage, and Wareing’s Gym.

“It’s pretty amazing to see what you can achieve when you rally together a group of passionate, skilled, giving young professionals who are eager to make a difference,” said Alexis Hionis, riseVB founder and president. “We couldn’t be happier with the sponsorship growth this year, and we are looking forward to another record-breaking year for Beach Ball!”

This year, young professionals from around the area will be dancing the night away at Beach Ball on February 16 at Lesner Inn. As they raise funds for EquiKids, attendees will enjoy a full open bar, photo booth, and live entertainment until 1 a.m. For more information, visit beachballvb.com.
